Introduction

The Super Visa is a visa category (PG-1 visa) that is opened for parents and grandparents only (since Canada has accumulated a large number of parents’ immigration applications every year that are not passed). Out of these considerations, IRCC started accepting applications for super visas from various places since January 2012. A super visa grants five years of residency per entry, and they have the option to request to extend their stay by up to two years while in Canada. This means current Super Visa holders will now be able to stay in Canada for up to seven consecutive years. Also, when applying for a super visa, the visa officer will first check whether inviter meet minimum income requirement and whether the information is complete and real. The applicants’ immigration tendency and financial status, travel history and other common reasons for refusal will be put into consideration later. Therefore, if you are unsuccessful in applying for an ordinary visa many times, you may wish to apply for a super visa for your parents. If the conditions are met, the success rate is as high as 90%.
