Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program / RNIP

Index

Introduction

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program (RNIP), is Canada’s first community-based express immigration program, launched in the fall of 2019 by IRCC and designated cities (tertiary municipal governments). The communities participating in the RNIP project are located in northern or remote areas of Canada, with lower and more aged population, and are in urgent need of supplementary labor to promote local population growth and socio-economic development. The project aims to address labor shortages with a view to achieving mutual benefits between local community businesses and immigrants.

In addition, a total of 11 pilot cities have been announced in this project, 7 of which are located in Ontario and British Columbia/BC provinces.
