What is AFIP
What is Agri-Food Immigration Pilot (AFIP)?
AFIP for short, is an immigration program for experienced non-seasonal worker, especially in meat processing and mushroom production. Launched in May 2020, it is planned to be implemented for three years. The language requirements of this immigration program are low, and the educational requirements only require high school or above.
There are three types of occupations eligible for the Canadian Agriculture Pilot Immigration Application.
- Manufacturer of meat products
- NOC B 6311 – Retail Butchers
- NOC C 9462 – Industrial Butchers
- NOC B 8252 – Farm Supervisors and Professional Livestock Workers
- NOC D 9617 – Food Processing Workers
2. Greenhouse, nursery and flower cultivation production
- NOC B 8252 – Farm Supervisors and Professional Livestock Management Workers
- NOC C 8431 – Regular Farm Workers
- NOC D 8611 – Harvest workers
3. For animal production, excluding aquaculture:
- NOC B 8252 – Farm Supervisors and Professional Livestock Management Workers
- NOC C 8431 – Regular Farm Workers
Eligible Occupations
- Accumulate one year of full-time Canadian work experience in eligible industries and occupations through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program;
- Low language requirement CLB 4, English or French;
- An eligible full-time Canadian job offer;
- High school or above;
- Have sufficient resettlement funds;
- Maintain valid temporary resident status (if the applicant is already in Canada).
There is an annual limit to the number of applications for each occupation, on top of ensuring a range of workforce needs are met.
- Farm Supervisor or Professional Livestock Worker (NOC B 8252) : 50
- Butchers in industrial production (NOC C 9462) or butchers in retail trade (NOC B 6331) : 1470
- Food processing workers (NOC D 9617) : 730
- General farm worker (NOC C 8431) : 200
- Harvest workers (NOC D 8611) : 300
Advantages:
- No scoring/grading system;
- No age limit, but preferably 18-53;
- Low educational requirements, high school and above educational requirements;
- Language requirement low CLB 4;
- The federal pilot program has a relatively short trial period.

Q&A
A: The project has no occupational or major restrictions. Any major can apply, but it is best to have experience related to the project.
A: No work experience is required when applying, and 1 year of work experience in a designated industry in Canada is required when submitting the Maple Leaf Card.
A: It is equivalent to IELTS class G reading 3.5, writing 4, listening 4.5, speaking 4.0.
A: Candidates who meet the minimum requirements and have an eligible job offer from an employer in an eligible occupation are eligible to submit an application.
A: No. AFIP is mainly aimed at NOC C/D positions. The spouse cannot obtain an open work visa and can only enter the country with a tourist visa or accompanying student visa.
